This Family Transformed their front and back yards for the summer!

One of our recent projects involved a family who bought a house several years ago. Every year they try to do at least one project to improve the property’s usage, appearance and value. These are some of my favorite kinds of clients to have because they obviously take great pride in their home and property. It is always great to partner with people to help make their dream home a reality.

As most in the trades and many homeowners will know, dream homes are rarely built overnight. (And when they are, that is usually not a good sign for the longevity of the house!!) This family was ready to have their yard graded to remove the bumps and holes that are a part of the landscape here in Western PA. Historically, glaciers dragged rocks up and across the area as they receded north and advanced south several times, so the area is rocky to start. Then, we found that this property, like many others, used slightly rocky fill dirt when the yard was originally created around the time the house was originally built.

We determined with the owners that the solution was to regrade the entire front and back yards. Luckily, we were able to do so and seed the exposed sunny parts of the yard just in time for a storm! We will check back in on this project several times as the grass starts to grow in, but take a look at our gallery in the meantime. We did not get any “before” pictures, but take our word for it, this yard is really smoothed out and level compared to where it was!
