Turning a steep hill into a Backyard Terrace Getaway

We were thrilled to make this project work out well for a family who relocated to the Western PA area during COVID. They purchased a lovely older home that needed some updates. The main problem was that their outdoor space was limited due to the steep hill in their back yard. They decided to have a deck built first that gives them a lovely view of the neighborhood.

This year they looked us to and asked us to brainstorm on ways they could expand their usage of the back yard. The only thing it was really good for was sledding in the winter. We came back with a rustic theme using large boulders to build a beautiful terraced area that will be partially shaded during the day. There is also a small walkway from the basement door to the area as well for added convenience.

The project turned out great! Our clients immediately got to work gardening after the area was seeded and a rock pathway was built in. They are excited to have a second area to entertain in their yard once the grass grows in.
