PICK A CONTRACTOR WITH EXPERIENCE.
Any contractor can promise you the world.
An inexperienced contractor can mess up their pricing and sell you a cheap job that actually loses them money.
Clients who go with the low bidder may be happy at first, but usually end up shelling out more money in the long run as they are forced to pay for expensive repairs for years to come.
A decent contractor will sell you the job as they are able to do it in ideal conditions.
HOWEVER…
A GREAT contractor will be honest with you and set your expectations upfront about labor shortages, weather, breakdowns, parts shortages, and the many things that contractors have to deal with on the daily.
If a contractor is:
honest with you
can give you a ballpark estimate
can reference happy customers with jobs like yours
and mentions that they have a positive relationship with your local SEO (sewage enforcement officer)
=you’ve got yourself a winner.
BONUS: A great contractor not only gets the job done right, they can also educate you about what they’re doing.
We will caveat this by stating that many clients have selective hearing and will not listen to the most upfront contractor there is.
Those clients are not our target customers!
