Part Two: What you MUST do to hire a dirt work contractor in Clarion, Forest, Elk, Armstrong, Venango or Jefferson County, PA (Copy)

In PART ONE, we covered why we believe you should always hire a contractor with EXPERIENCE over the low bidder.

This is Part Two of our series. Let’s dive in!

2. BE READY TO LEARN.

Most people have NO IDEA how complicated a septic system is, the levels of approval involved, or the time it takes to do one well. And that’s okay!

Just be ready to take some time asking good questions and listening well. A great contractor will be ready to share their years of hard-won knowledge with you.

Some good questions for customers to start with would look like these:

  • What steps of this process take the longest to get approval?

  • What parts are the most difficult to source?

  • How long does the planning phase take?

  • How might the weather affect this project?

  • What is the most likely thing to go wrong?

  • What is our backup plan?

  • How can I help speed up the process?

“This contractor I heard of (narrator: from HGTV) remodeled a 9-bedroom, 5 bathroom mansion in Tennessee in 30 minutes (narrator: minus commercials)! Why is it taking more than a few weeks to dig my foundation in Pennsylvania in January??”

It really is that simple.

In PART THREE, we will explain why we never rush through the PLANNING phase just to get to the “fun stuff”.

In PART FOUR, we review how QUALITY suffers when clients get impatient.

And in PART FIVE, we talk about how clients should always think about the results of dirt work in the LONG-TERM, not just the short-term.
